Funded in 2012, Iron Studios is the first Brasilean Company which designs and realizes high detailed figures and statues for collectors. Due to the acquisition of different licenses (Marvel, DC, Ghostbusters, Star Wars), the production is quite branched out and seems to be destined to increase in the future, especially after the great success among all fans of the 1:4 statues devoted to Marvel movies. The great popularity of the Company, in fact, mainly started with the release of two spectacular 1:4 statues, inspired by the second movie of the Avengers saga (The Age of Ultron) and devoted to Captain America and Iron Man, respectively. Both the pieces remind the early scenes of the film (with a battle in a snowy forest) and are characterized by a spectacular sculpt, a great attention paid to details and a relevant likeness with the movie's characters. An anomaly concerns the edition size: the statues were released with a run of 400 pieces for Cap and 300 samples for Iron Man, but later the Company decided to increase this number by releasing a second batch of 181 pieces, officially destined to a well defined (Oceanian?) market. I personally do not care too much about the edition size, but, in any case, I think it is not a good policy to increase it, especially after the official release. Anyway, both the two statues are simply phenomenal! Captain America was sculpted by Igor Catto and released in 2015; the piece has a heigth of approximately 55 cm and is very heavy. The hero stands proudly erect on the snowy terrain, with the left feet resting on the ruins of a tank, pointing at a probable target with his right index finger. The costume is extremely faithful to the movie and fully covered by high definition textures: it is constituted by a lot of separated patches which, by and large, recall the classic suit of Comics, with a dominant, background blue color, vertical red and white strips on abdomen, two white patches at the biceps level and a silver star centered on chest. The high brown boots are equipped with red strips and are painted in a masterful way, with snow spots scattered everywhere; the hands are partially covered by brown, very well finished gloves, with leather pads on all fingers. A two-tone belt at waist, enriched by different pouches at both sides, increases the excellent chromatic contrast of the whole, while two bands encircle the shoulders and cross at the center of the back with a large buckle, acting as a connection point of the shield. Alternatively, the same shield may be located at the side of the left arm, through two magnets hidden in the costume. The attention paid to any detail is simply incredible, as it also appears from the trunk placed at the feet of the character, which looks really made of wood. However, in my humble opinion, the true strength of the statue are the sculpt quality of the face and the breathtaking resemblance with the actor! The closeups, in fact, highlight the spectacular realism of the blue eyes, the perfect coloring of skin, lips and eyelashes, the high definition of textures used on mask and, above all, the impressive likeness of the somatic traits with Chris Evans. Generally speaking, my statues collection is inspired by love for Comics and I always tried to limit my purchases to pieces based on Comics; nevertheless, I was very happy to make an exception for this statue (as well as the same The Age of Ultron Iron Man by Iron Studios and the first Hulk maquette released by Sideshow), which undoubtedly represents a true masterpiece of rare beauty. An unmissable must for any collector of movies' statues!
